Toward the Sun

In keeping with the tradition I began last year, I made another New Year's drawing to symbolically represent my intent for the year, and started doing the color work as the ball dropped. Last year was about healing, regrowth, and getting back to my roots. This year I'm going to do something with all that gathered energy: I'm seeking the blessed light and warmth of the Sun. I'm making 2016 my year to seize hold of life's opportunities, and reclaim my true self. I'm tired of depression: it's time to truly live again. This doubles as a depiction of the Aztec god Tepeyollotl, often shown as a jaguar leaping toward the sun.
